About Cream Dachshunds
Cream Dachshunds were first bred in England, which is why they’re commonly referred to as English Creams. True English Creams can trace their lineage to just a few kennels in England. They are born almost black and as they grow most of, if not all of, their darkness will fade to a pale blonde colour. Some will retain shading in their ears and tails. Creams will have black on their noses, eyeliner, mouths and pads of their feet.
Below are photos of Isla, who is a cream piebald. You can see that she was born black and white and her coat as faded to cream and white over time.
Another type of Cream Dachshund are known as American Creams or Clear Creams. These puppies are born with a recessive e gene that prevents the dark hairs from showing through in their coats. These puppies are born pale cream and remain that way as they grow.
Below are photos of Hansel, who is an ee Cream. You can see that he was born light blonde and has remained cream as he has grown.
